Disability Services

Disability Services provide different kinds of support for people with physical and sensory impairments and for people with learning disabilities.

These include:

  • Learning Disability Accommodation Services
  • Community Disability Team (for people with physical or sensory impairments)
  • Community Learning Disability Team
  • Day Services and Drop-ins
  • Positive Behaviour Support

  • Wheelchair Service
Accommodation Services

This team supports people who live in the Health and Social Services Department's seven long-stay care homes for people with learning disabilities, as well as some people who live in their own home.

Community Disability Team

This team supports adults with physical or sensory impairments, including people with Parkinson's or Multiple Sclerosis, in the community.

Community Learning Disability Team

This team supports adults with learning disabilities in the community.

Day Services and Drop-ins

There is a day service for adults with a learning disability. It offers a wide range of activities all around the island. It is based at St Martin's Community Centre.

New! Drop-ins for adults with learning disabilities have just started. These are a chance to meet friends and have a chat.

Supported Employment

Interwork Services provide coaching and support to help disabled people find employment. They also work with employers to help develop a more inclusive working environment.

Wheelchair Services

The wheelchair service assesses people's need and prescribes wheelchairs. They also provide advice on posture (how to sit and move about), and can help to adjust and repair wheelchairs.
