Taxi operators are licensed by the Environment Department and must abide by the conditions of their "Road Service Licence". This includes ensuring drivers observe a Code of Conduct.

Further information about the licensing of these services is explained in the Department's Policy Statement entitled 'Taxi and Private Hire Service Licences', copies of which are available from its offices at Bulwer Avenue.

The relevant legislation is both "The Road Traffic (Permits to Drive Public Service Vehicles) Ordinance, 1986" and "The Public Transport Ordinance, 1986", copies of which can be obtained from the Greffe.

Any concerns or complaints with regard to the conduct of a taxi driver should be directed to the Passenger Transport office at the Environment Department using the number below.
